Wild Bush Luxury, the Australian tourism company specialising in immersive, premium nature experiences, has made two new executive appointments at Bamurru Plains, the safari lodge located on the spectacular Mary River wetlands in the Top End of the Northern Territory.

Matthew Bowen has joined as General Manager, while Matthias Beer has been appointed as Head Chef to oversee the culinary direction of this Australian Top End lodge – one of the Luxury Lodges of Australia.

Matthew joins Bamurru Plains with a wealth of experience in senior management and operational roles at remote location lodges including El Questro, Emma Gorge Resort and Lake Argyle Resort in the Kimberley, Western Australia, and Lizard Island Resort on Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef.

With a background in also managing high end yacht charters, Matthew is well versed in delivering premium experiences in very special Australian locations.

With more than 24 years in hospitality, new Head Chef Matthias Beer draws on an impressive bank of experience gathered from hotels and resorts around the world.

Matthias has worked as Executive Chef at some of Australia’s top wilderness resorts and islands including other Luxury Lodges of Australia El Questro Homestead in the Kimberley, and Longitude 131 at Uluru in the Northern Territory.

His culinary repertoire is heavily influenced by years spent in Southeast Asia and the South Pacific where he had Executive Chef roles at the Batu Karang Lembongan Resort & Spa, on the Balinese island of Nusa Lembongan, and at the Pacific Resort Aitutaki, on the Cook Islands.

“We are delighted to be welcoming such a strong team to Bamurru Plains who will continue to deliver an exceptional level of service for our guests, with an exemplary culinary experience,” said Wild Bush Luxury General Manager, Amanda Byrne.
