Silversea Cruises celebrated the float out of its latest ultra-luxury cruise ship, Silver Nova.

The ship’s construction has generated excitement among onlookers, Silversea guests, travel partners, and extended family. The ship’s next journey, scheduled for the end of May, will entail a conveyance of approximately 20 miles down the narrow Ems River to the sea.

Barbara Muckermann, President and CEO of Silversea Cruises, said, “Silver Nova embodies the vision of our cruise line and the evolution of our fleet. She has been purpose-built for ocean cruising, ushering an evolution of Silversea’s industry-leading, ultra-luxury cruise experience.”

Roberto Bruzzone, SVP of Marine Operations of Silversea Cruises, described Silver Nova as “unlike anything we have seen in the luxury cruise industry so far.” In addition to being the most sustainable ultra-luxury ship at sea, Silver Nova will introduce guests to a new level of comfort, with some of the industry’s most spacious accommodations, an enormous array of bars, lounges, and restaurants of any ultra-luxury ship, and a host of unprecedented innovations for the cruise line.

Silver Nova is the first of two Nova-class ships currently under construction in Papenburg. It is set to become the most sustainable ultra-luxury ship ever launched when it joins Silversea’s fleet. It will feature an asymmetrical design and horizontal layout, unprecedented for the leading ultra-luxury cruise line.

Jan Meyer, Managing Director of Meyer Werft, said, “This ship is an important step towards green cruising due to its many technological features, as well as high environmental compatibility and energy efficiency. Beyond that, Silver Nova features a particularly innovative interior design.”

Captain Cosimo Pontillo welded a particular coin to a wall on the pool deck to commemorate the significant milestone and observe shipbuilding traditions. Meyer Werft’s skilled craftspeople then cleaned the ship’s hull, attached her funnel, and installed her LNG and radar masts.

Silversea Cruises and the Meyer Werft shipyard have worked tirelessly to ensure that Silver Nova is both luxurious and environmentally friendly. Silver Nova will use liquefied natural gas (LNG) to power its engines, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution.

In addition to its eco-friendly features, Silver Nova will offer guests the highest standard of luxury with its range of amenities, including a spa, a theatre, a pool deck, and a selection of restaurants and bars. Silver Nova is set to revolutionize the ultra-luxury cruise experience when it launches in the summer of 2023.

Overall, the construction of Silver Nova is a testament to Silversea’s commitment to luxury and sustainability in the cruise industry. With its innovative design and eco-friendly features, the ship is set to become a benchmark for ultra-luxury cruising in the years to come.
