2023 has already brought many changes to the hospitality and hotel sectors and with over 30 years of combined experience between them, new Executive Chef, Helen Thorrington and Executive Sous Chef, Shane Veivers will take the existing culinary team to new heights at Emporium Hotel South Bank.

Executive Chef, Helen Thorrington started her career in the UK learning through busy restaurants in London for 10 years including the Oxo Tower, one of the city of London’s most iconic restaurants before emigrating to Australia in 2003. Honing her skills at establishments in Melbourne and Brisbane, including E’cco Bistro and QPAC. Helen’s vast experience in unique venues make her the ideal fit for Emporium Hotel South Bank who are one of the most awarded luxury boutique hotels in Australia.

New Executive Sous Chef, Shane Veivers, is a highly awarded chef who has helmed various establishments steering them to One Chef’s Hat awards from as early as 2009 as well as a swag of Best Restaurant and catering awards including the 2020 Winner of Best Italian restaurant Qld/NT and 2022 Winner Function/Convention caterer South East Queensland. Shane’s passion for Italian food saw him as head chef for Persone as well as Risorante La Famigliaand Ristorante Tartufo.

Emporium Hotel South Bank Director of Food & Beverage, Rob Brady said the addition of these two outstanding chefs to the expert line-up at Emporium Hotel is an exciting development for diners to the hotel.
