A new brochure, new shore experiences and a new set of savings form part of the newly-released 2024-25 program of overnight river cruises for Murray River Paddlesteamers which operates the deluxe, 16-guest riverboat, PS Emmylou, on Australia’s longest and most famous river.

The new 2024-25 program features a full calendar of three, four and seven-night cruises between April, 2024, and March, 2025, on the iconic Murray River between Echuca and Torrumbarry Weir on the Victorian/NSW border. All multi-day river cruises aboard the PS Emmylou now include free return V/Line train trips between Melbourne and Echuca on the Murray at the start and end of the cruise.

A perfect blend of heritage and contemporary comfort, PS Emmylou is the world’s only wood-fired paddlesteamer carrying overnight guests.

To mark the launch of the new program on the iconic Murray River, a 10 per cent saving is available for bookings on the new 2024-25 schedule made by July 31, 2023. New discounts have also been introduced for solo travellers, off-peak sailings and groups of friends.

Also new for 2024-25 are new shore experiences including a visit to the Great Aussie Beer Shed, tours of historic Echuca, a silo art tour and a nature cruise and riverside beach picnic with Murray River Paddlesteamers’ 47-seat Murray Explorer touring vessel – all complimentary and adding to the existing array of free shore encounters including visits to local wineries and historic farm stations and a campfire and BBQ dinner under the stars accompanied by a musician and river storyteller .

Powered by a restored 1906 steam engine and totally refurbished with deluxe cabins and ensuites, the boutique Emmylou paddlesteamer starred in the hit 1983 TV mini-series, ‘All the Rivers Run’, starring Sigrid Thornton, and is still one of the most recognisable and iconic paddlesteamers in Australia. The charm-filled riverboat offers authentic, all-inclusive journeys along the mighty Murray.

Each luxury cabin has a private ensuite, is individually air-conditioned, has WIFI and opens directly onto the paddle steamer’s large timber deck. Guests enjoy gourmet meals on deck or in the charming saloon, riverside picnics and a memorable campfire dinner on the riverbank.  At dusk, the rare, wood-fired paddlesteamer ties up at tranquil and remote moorings, allowing guests to experience the serenity and wildlife of the bush at night.
