Oakwood room with a viewThe muted lighting and subtle mood music in the lobby sets the scene for elegance and sophistication at Melbourne’s Oakwood Premier hotel and apartments. The Oakwood brand is successfully striving to be included in the top star group globally. The name is quickly becoming known for its luxury hybrid properties, and Oakwood Melbourne ticks that box.

Potential guests usually search the internet for property reviews, and many of them are negative. Not so the Oakwood Premier, where guests praised all facets of the property.

Located on Southbank, the property has 132 luxury hotel rooms and 260 serviced apartments styled and furnished with state-of-the-art in-room technology and security catering to the modern traveller.

With 80 managed properties overall and 10 of those in the world’s most popular gateway cities, the company plans continued expansion.

Acquired by Singapore-based lodging property behemoth The Ascott Limited last July, the plan is for the Oakwood name to continue to expand as one of the world’s luxury accommodation brands.

The Melbourne property features a 40-story tower with the aptly named Sky bar on the top floor. Whilst not operated by Oakwood is staffed by “with it” young men and women who know their bar etiquette; the view is spectacular.

The property has an all-day dining restaurant, Fifth, serving a modern Australian menu with a taste of the Pacific and a classy Lobby Bar offering light refreshments and evening cocktails in a relaxed setting. Not always found in accommodation is a resident guests lounge for quiet catch-ups.  Also on the ground floor is a convenience store stocking all the usual items, plus a fitness centre and games room available from early until late.

With over 50 years of hospitality expertise, Oakwood dedicates itself to continuous innovation and evolution with a guest-first approach.

The company earlier this year opened an Oakwood Premier in Phnom Penh in the Kingdom of Cambodia. The property near the city centre has 207 rooms and apartments. Kuala Lumpur’s Oakwood Premier is scheduled to open in 2024 with the world’s second-tallest building.
