Last night, Clare Smyth became the first female chef and the second chef in history to be awarded both three hats by The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide and three Michelin stars, in the same year.

Three hats were awarded to Oncore by Clare Smyth which sits on the 26th floor of Crown Sydney and opened on 18 November 2021. Oncore was also nominated for Restaurant of the Year in the Good Food Guide. Clare’s Notting Hill restaurant, Core by Clare Smyth, currently holds three Michelin stars.

Smyth quietly jetted into Sydney over the weekend to surprise her team, including Head Chef Alan Stuart, who alongside Smyth was nominated for Chef of the Year.

Michael Stoddart, Oncore by Clare Smyth Restaurant Manager, was awarded the Good Food Guide Service Excellence Award.

“It’s an honour to receive this recognition. I’m incredibly proud of the team who have worked so hard to bring the best experience to our guests, and I’m grateful to all the guests who have supported Oncore in our first year of operation,” said Clare Smyth.

Crown has cemented itself as Sydney’s premier dining destination, taking home a total of seven hats last night at The Good Food Guide Awards, with three hatted Oncore by Clare Smyth, two hatted Yoshii’s Omakase and one hatted a’Mare and Nobu.

“For many years Crown has brought international culinary talent to Australia, and we pride ourselves on providing our guests with world-class dining experiences, so we are absolutely delighted that Clare Smyth and her team at Oncore have been recognised in this way in their first year of operation,” said Crown Sydney Chief Executive Officer, Mark McWhinnie.
