WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30TH
11AM: Grand Opening of Olé an indoor/outdoor exhibition featuring paintings, sculptures, and site-specific murals.

The exhibition features the work of four Brazilian graffiti artists—Ise, Thiago Nevs, Finok and Skola—each part of Sao Paolo’s infamous VLOK graffiti crew founded by famed international twin artists OSGEMEOS.

The work on display is inspired by a famous moment in February of 1958 in Mexico during a soccer game between Brazil and Argentina, when the player Garrincha repeatedly dribbled past his opponent with fantastic plays. The crowd cheered at every move and shouted “olé”, as it was common to shout in a bullfight when the bullfighter taunts the bull with his red scarf. The cry of olé has become one of the most frequent acts in a soccer game, when a team is winning by a big goal difference, having a brilliant performance, or when a beautiful shot is made. The artwork within the exhibit uses the analogy of dribbling, soccer, and “olé” to discuss popular culture, marginality, graffiti, and social problems. The works on display include paintings, illustration, sculpture, collage, and a new outdoor mural along NW 3rd Avenue in Wynwood.

Each of these artists are active contributors in the streets of Sao Paulo as graffiti artists and muralists while at the same time maintaining a disciplined studio practice and exhibiting their art globally in galleries and museums. All the artists will be in attendance.

8PM: Museum of Graffiti’s 3 Year Anniversary Party featuring celebrity DJs and performances by invitation only.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 1ST
11AM: Grand Opening of Writers on Wax, an interactive exhibition pairing the visual works of graffiti artists with music they’ve made.

All Day music takeover: The Writers on Wax deejays will program the outdoor courtyard all day long. Sets by DJ’s Dim, Phillip, Rich Medina, and others.

Graffiti has long been associated with musical styles such as hip hop and punk that contain an abundance of imagination and expression. Less well-known is the fact that graffiti writers have embraced the DIY approach of electronic music and Hip Hop.

For Writers on Wax, the Museum of Graffiti has teamed up with Ruyzdael Music who recently launched the Writers on Wax: The Sound of Graffiti, a vinyl-only compilation album series featuring exclusive tracks by music producers who are more (in)famous as graffiti writers than as musicians.

For Miami Art Week 2022, the Museum of Graffiti will present an exhibition that pairs the beats, basslines, imagination, and expression of the graffiti writers’ music with their visual studio work in an immersive environment. NUG and Boris Tellegen (DELTA) will debut their latest video works alongside paintings and sound installations by many of the Writers on Wax artists.

3PM: Artist Talk on music production and deejaying featuring OSGEMEOS Reaze, and Pure
