Carnival Splendor returned to its homeport of Sydney on Friday, marking the latest exciting chapter in the rebuilding of Australia’s $5 billion-a-year cruise industry.
During Covid19 cloud-cover cruising, as we used to know it, ceased to exist. The pre-dawn arrival of Carnival’s Cruise Ship, SPLENDOR heralds the return of the vessel, after more than 900 days away from her home port of Sydney Harbor.
The Fabulous ship arrived under cover of darkness, and she was not alone. Carnival Splendor was escorted into Sydney Harbour by sister brand ship, P&O Cruise’s Australia’s Pacific Adventure. Spectacular at any hour.
Carnival Splendor weighs in at 113 Tons and Pacific Adventure at nearly 109,000 tons are both loaded to the railings with fabulous eateries, activities and amenities, catering to a variety of cruising client interests.
The reigniting of CARNIVAL Cruise’s investment was highlighted from the Sydney Opera House with comments from Carnival Australia and P&O Cruises Australia President Marguerite Fitzgerald and Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy. Fabulous speakers, candidates for cloning. Minister for Tourism, Ben Franklin shared comments on the full, positive impact Cruising had on the New South Wales economy. The pre-dawn footage of the sister ship’s arrival in Sydney was exceptional and highly emotional for the audience of perhaps 150 travel professionals, suppliers and media. The “Welcome Home” mat was truly out for the return to business as better-than-normal.
