Royal Caribbean announces more than 1,400 opportunities for people in the entertainment industry over the next year.

Every year, around 100 Australians are included in Royal Caribbean’s cast of singers and dancers. They spend their winters in Europe exploring the Mediterranean and their summers back at home in the sunny South Pacific and Australia.

As the world’s largest cruise line, with 26 ships and nearly 800 music sets and 142 production shows performed each night, Royal Caribbean is opening its doors to even more entertainers to join its 3,000-plus cast members and production staff.

Locally, Royal Caribbean will homeport two Quantum Class ships in Australia this yearOvation of the Seas will sail from Sydney from 29 October and Quantum of the Seas will sail from Brisbane for the first time ever from 1 November. Across the Australia summer season, October 2022 to April 2023, over 600 shows will be performed across both ships. On Quantum34 percent of entertainers are Australian, and 26 percent are Australian on Ovation.

Originally form Melbourne, Lauren Jaksetic is one such performer who joined Royal Caribbean in 2019 and will be working on board Ovation of the Seas from this November.

Lauren Jaksetic says, “I am so excited to get back to Australia in October. It’s been almost three years since Royal Caribbean has headed Down Under. I’ve loved travelling around Europe this summer and visiting spots like Rome and Santorini, but there is something magical about performing for our home crowd and I know this year will be even more special. In my three years with Royal Caribbean, I’ve had the opportunity to travel the world and learn from some of the best chorographers, dance coaches and perform alongside some of the best dancers in the business.”

Royal Caribbean trains performers in a 3-story facility in North Miami Beach. The 132,500-square-foot facility has 14 dance studios, 15 vocal rooms, three aerial studios, a 300-seat theater, a recording studio, a 20,000-square-foot costume shop, a gym and residences for all the singers, dancers, aerialists, divers and choreographers. Outside of the major film studios in Hollywood, this facility is one of the largest in the world. On any given day there are up 2000 people in their Royal Caribbean International Production Studio.

On Ovation and Quantum of the Seas sailing from Australia, there are two show-stopping theatres and the Music Hall.

  • Two70  The space is aptly named for its magnificent 270-degree panoramic sea views through vast, floor-to-ceiling glass walls spanning almost three decks at the stern of the ship. Unparalleled technology means every show at Two70° is multidimensional and immerses the audience through a combination of live performers, including aerialists, as well as breathtaking video and digital scenery.
  • Royal Theatre – Seating 1,300 guests, the magnificent Royal Theatre is home to Broadway Style production shows. Every sailing features original productions that guests can only see on board. Amazing vocalists and dancers deliver rousing performances wrapped up in stunning sets and transcendent multimedia productions.
  • Music Hall – The set list is always changing at Music Hall. Guests can get a front-row view from anywhere on the dance floor while the industry’s best cover bands rock like the real thing. Or take in the scene from the bar pool table and intimate lounge spaces with their favourite cocktails. This is the premier place for live music lovers, and whatever they’re up for, no night here sounds the same.
