There has been a welcome return to stability in Sri Lanka in the last couple of weeks, with the new President firmly focused on law and order, leading to a settled economic restructuring critical to restoring the wellbeing of the people.

“The Sri Lankan Parliament reconvened a few weeks ago and the President made an inspiring Policy Statement. The primary protest has ended and the protesters have vacated the site. The fuel situation has improved significantly. We expect remaining advisories will be relaxed shortly – there is no further justification” shared Malik Fernando, Managing Director, Resplendent Ceylon.

“Our recent guests have had memorable stays, visiting national parks, monuments and tea fields, enjoying a seamless experience with Resplendent service and smooth transfers. Our resorts operated normally throughout. One of our guests expressed the “spirit of the Sri Lankan people is incredible, and we couldn’t have felt safer in one of our recent guest stories posts as well” he added.

Tourists were never at risk during the protests. Tourism is a key driver of the Sri Lankan economy and supports an incredible value chain which over 10% of the population or 2.5million people rely on. Being hospitable toward foreigners is how many Sri Lankans make a living.

“Our commitment and passion at Ceylon Tea Trails, Cape Weligama and Wild Coast Tented Lodge towards curating meaningful journeys has never been stronger. We have resumed our key market sales calls and seen a welcome pickup in bookings now that our island is off the front-page news,” said Fernando.
