Got grit?

If the answer is yes, it’s time to put your skills to the test and tackle TRUE GRIT, Australia’s first military-designed obstacle course! This year’s Queensland event will be held THIS WEEKEND, and for the first time at Kooralbyn in the Scenic Rim on a BRAND-NEW COURSE, so participants and onlookers can expect beautiful (but challenging) trails, tougher than tough obstacles, and best of all MUD!

More than 3500 people have already signed up for the challenge, with 5000 plus expected to descend on the region for the event.

True Grit is the only Aussie-owned and operated military inspired obstacle course created by former defence special forces. With challenging obstacles such as Jungle VinesMonkey Spinners and Swimmer Scout – as well as more traditional military themed challenges such as Ammo Resupply and Casualty Drags – there’s an obstacle guaranteed to get each participant out of their comfort zone both physically and mentally.

The most popular option is the 10km course with 30 obstacles (held this weekend) and is open to ages 16 plus.

The 5km course, with 15 obstacles, is held on Saturday only and is open to ages 12 and over.

If that extra challenge is what you’re looking for, the elite wave sets off at 8.30am on Saturday only. It’s timed and competitive with prizes for the first, second and third male and female to cross the line.

Tom Gilmartin – Race Director, said Kooralbyn was a great choice being an ideal distance from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, with stunning scenery and interesting terrain features which makes for a tough yet spectacular course. “Participants can expect to challenge themselves not just physically over what is a hilly course, but also mentally with a range of obstacles designed to push them outside of their comfort zones. The rewards felt when crossing the Finish Line make it all worthwhile and it’s that feeling of accomplishment and personal achievement that keep participants coming back year on year to test themselves and discover what true grit is all about.”

The event is also supporting two primary charity partners, the Black Dog Institute, the only medical research institute in Australia to investigate mental health and Legacy, an iconic Australian charity founded on a promise made from one digger to another – to “look after the missus and the kids”.

If you haven’t entered, and would rather watch, spectators are welcome. The Festival Area features start and finish lines and a bunch of show-stopping obstacles. If you’d prefer to be in the thick of the action, Volunteer Crew Members are sought for the event in a variety of fun roles such as Obstacle Marshalls, Drink Stations and crowd control.
