Today, IHG Hotels & Resorts announces the appointment of Daniel Payne as General Manager for the new Holiday Inn & Suites Geelong, ahead of its opening in early 2023.

With more than 25 years of hospitality experience, Daniel will lead the team at the first new-build hotel in the regional city in over two decades, located on 44 Ryrie Street in the much-anticipated Geelong Quarter by Franze Development.

Having worked in managerial roles across the Bellarine Peninsula and in some of the most popular family travel destinations, including Barwon Heads, Ocean Grove and Breamlea, Daniel has an attuned understanding of the importance of local small businesses and the community at large.

“I’m very excited to be part of such an important development in Geelong. Being a local myself, I have been watching Holiday Inn & Suites Geelong come to life every step of the way and have been buoyed by what the Geelong Quarter has been able to bring to the local community. I can’t wait to take this to the next level with the opening of Holiday Inn & Suites,” said Daniel.

“Geelong is a great place not only to live, but to visit, and it’s fantastic to see the changes that are taking place in the city and turning it into a more desirable destination for all. I’m looking forward to welcoming guests to the first new-build hotel in the regional city in two decades and deliver the brand’s long legacy of bringing people together for moments that matter,” Daniel added.

IHG Hotels & Resort’s Managing Director, Australasia & Pacific, Matthew Tripolone, said that regional Victoria has become an increasingly popular destination for businesses and leisure alike.

“Geelong is Victoria’s fastest growing regional city and we are hugely excited to be leading the charge on new experiences for visitors. I have no doubt Holiday Inn & Suites Geelong will set a new benchmark for accommodation in the region and showcase the transformation of the Holiday Inn brand from its Open Lobby to enhanced design and restaurant concepts.”

Guests of the 180-room hotel will be able to enjoy a range of services and amenities, including a swimming pool, fitness centre, underground parking, flexible meeting and function spaces and an event centre. The hotel is on schedule to open in early 2023.
