Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street (HMLQS) has opened the doors to its Queen Adelaide lounge located on the mezzanine level of the hotel’s meticulously restored and renovated Equity Chambers building.

Designed by award-winning architects Bates Smart, the Queen Adelaide lounge can be entered through the hotel lobby or its historic Bourke Street archway entrance. Via Bourke Street the Equity Chambers’ two original 1930s lifts – brought back into service as part of the multi-million dollar hotel restoration – are wrapped by a modernist-style heritage staircase that transports guests on-foot up to the mezzanine level entry.

Capturing the glamour and elegance of the 1930s – a thread seen throughout HMLQS’s award-winning interior design – the Queen Adelaide lounge celebrates the Equity Chambers’s rich exterior architectural elements and elaborate detailing, while also effortlessly accommodating the requisite contemporary accommodations of a modern-day members club.

The club-like feel is achieved through the use of timber panelling, mirrors and curved wall lights; and instead of a singular dining hall, the lounge space is split into three zones – buffet, central and end space – each defined through its own unique materiality and furnishing. A bespoke contemporary artwork in the form of a huge commissioned mural from respected artist David Lee Pereira completes the space.

Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street General Manager Adrian Teh says, “We are delighted to be opening the Queen Adelaide lounge space to our guests, and believe it is one of the most elegant and well-considered offerings for business and leisure travellers in Melbourne. It is completely unique and the Bates Smart design brings a historic part of our city back to life for a contemporary audience nearly 100 years after it was first built.”

Available to Hilton Honors Diamond Members and guests staying in the newly launched King Heritage Rooms (28sqm), Premium Rooms and above. The Queen Adelaide lounge is open daily from 08:00hrs–20:00hrs and offers:

Tea, coffee and snacks from 08:00hrs–17:00hrs
Drinks and canapés from 17:00hrs–19:00hrs
High-speed Wi-Fi
There are also smart accommodations for business travellers interested in hosting larger-scale meetings and events on-site. Adjacent to the Queen Adelaide lounge five elegant meeting and event spaces ranging from 24sqm to 143sqm offer high-speed Wi-Fi and the latest audio-visual technology. Meetings and events are all backed by Hilton EventReady with CleanStay, which provides curated solutions for every step of an event planning process to create event experiences that are clean, flexible, safe and socially responsible, and to address the dramatic shift in how people meet and celebrate the hotel is offering Hilton EventReady Hybrid Solutions for event planners.
