Some of the Sunshine State’s largest endurance events such as the GC Marathon, Noosa Tri, and IRONMAN Cairns are bringing in droves of interstate travellers, particularly from NSW and VIC,  to ‘compete in paradise’. On top of this, event participants and their families can then ‘relax and rejuvenate’ across the state with the plethora of incredible accommodation options, dining experiences and natural wonders within reach.

The report shows that holiday makers continue to lead the way, with OVE in the March of 2022 being 45.2% or $896 million higher than in March 2019. Incredibly, this growth of 45.2% was split evenly amongst intrastate and interstate holiday visitors.

In the first quarter of 2022, Tropical North Queensland, the Whitsundays and the Sunshine Coast reached record levels of OVE. Compared to 2019, Tropical North Queensland was up 18.8%, while the Sunshine Coast was up by 5.7% and the Whitsundays by 22.9% over the three-year trend.
