To fuel memorable moments in travel this summer and beyond, Preferred Hotels & Resorts – the world’s largest independent hotel brand – will celebrate International Pineapple Day on Monday, June 27, with an interactive 24-hour campaign that spotlights hotels around the world as travelers continue to seek independent properties in new and favored destinations. For the fourth consecutive year, Preferred will convey the symbolism behind its pineapple logo with a heartfelt ‘welcome’ to guests through a flash booking promotion and social media contest offered to new and existing I Prefer members.
“Preferred Hotels & Resorts has always represented an unwavering belief in travel, and through our annual celebration of International Pineapple Day, we recognize the hotel teams committed to serving our global community of guests, creating a range of culturally-rich experiences that can be booked with confidence.” said Lindsey Ueberroth, CEO of Preferred Hotels & Resorts. “As the universally recognized symbol of hospitality, we are proud to have the Preferred pineapple serve as a global guide to travelers, and this exciting campaign encourages them to continue indulging their sense of adventure while exploring near and far.”
One-Day Bonus I Prefer Points Offer
As a symbol of gratitude to members of I Prefer Hotel Rewards, Preferred will offer a booking bonus of 27,000 I Prefer points – more than enough to redeem for a free Reward Night or other exciting travel experiences – for reservations booked using the I Prefer Member Rate on June 27 for travel through December 31, 2022. To receive bonus points, travelers must be enrolled in the I Prefer Hotel Rewards program or enroll during the booking process. To learn more travelers should visit the dedicated International Pineapple Day offer page on the Preferred brand website.
Social Media Activations and Contest
Throughout the day, Preferred will show the world what it means to live #ThePreferredLife by sharing inspiring and informative content across its social media channels (@PreferredHotels), including imagery and videos highlighting the unique and distinctive experiences available to guests from member hotels worldwide. Preferred will also conduct a 24-hour International Pineapple Day Instagram Contest, inviting travelers to engage in the celebration for a chance to win 270,000 I Prefer Bonus Points – which is enough to redeem for a dream vacation at the choice of more than a hundred participating hotels and resorts worldwide. For additional details and to enter the contest, visit Instagram @PreferredHotels on June 27 between 6:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. PDT.
The Pineapple’s Journey and Place in Hospitality
As the story goes, the pineapple became the emblem of hospitality more than 500 years ago when seafarers sought places to rest in port and coastal towns and would look for homes that hung pineapples in their entrances – a sign that they would be welcomed for a meal or place to sleep. Ever since, the pineapple has been used to express that ‘you are welcome here’ – a fitting way to describe the more than 650 one-of-a-kind, independent properties that make up the Preferred Hotels & Resorts portfolio.
