Raffles Hotel Singapore invites guests to explore quintessential Sicilian delights as it departs from the shores of Japan and sails to the south of Italy as part of The Grand Lobby’s thematic Afternoon Tea experience. Exclusively from 16 May to 28 August 2022, indulge in an assortment of delectable Sicilian sweet and savoury treats before the journey continues to another destination in this epicurean voyage.
Charmingly presented on a three-tier silver stand, the Sicily Afternoon Tea comprises handmade savouries including well-loved Italian classics, Arancini with Beef Ragu, and Peas, a saffron coloured rice ball coated with breadcrumbs, The Authentic Sicilian Hero, decadently layered with a variety of indulgent cheeses, salami, and pesto, as well as delicious Tramezzini Sandwiches with tuna, egg and olives.
Complementing the savouries is a sumptuous array of traditional sweet treats specially curated by Executive Pastry Chef Tai Chien Lin. The specially curated creations include Brioscia, aromatic, and fluffy Sicilian bread; Granita al Limone, a refreshing semi-frozen dessert originating from Sicily; Cassata, a traditional rich sponge cake filled with sweetened ricotta cheese mixed with Marsala, chocolate chips, and candied fruit; Cannoli, intricate tube-shaped shells of fried pastry dough with a tempting rich ricotta filling and pistachios; and the delicate Paste di Mandorla, an Italian lemon-flavoured almond biscuit.
The Sicily Afternoon Tea comes with The Grand Lobby’s signature home-made original and raisin scones served with luscious clotted cream, and signature strawberry rose jam. To complete the entire experience, guests may choose to accompany this scrumptious spread with either a choice of “Mariage Frères” loose tea leaves or Raffles custom blended coffee beans.
The Sicily Afternoon Tea experience is priced at S$88++ per guest and will be offered alongside the signature Classic Afternoon Tea. The thematic experience is part of The Grand Lobby’s afternoon tea offering, where guests are taken on an evocative journey to revel in the unique culinary flavours of selected distinctive cities around the world.
