ISoS is back with a series of fantastic events at KeyStone 1889, The Victoria, and Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre (BMEC). Tourism Manager for Bathurst Region Tourism, Dan Cove enthused that the Festival is a fantastic fusion of music, arts and culture and the ideal weekend to experience the Bathurst region.
“We are so proud to support the local music scene here in the Central West and cannot wait to welcome guests to Bathurst to experience this vibrant, lively event.
“Along with the fantastic concerts held throughout the week, the Sea of Light installation is an interactive, magical, unique adventure that the whole family can enjoy”, said Mr Cove.
Headliners for 2022 are ARIA Awards nominees Vika and Linda. After three classic albums with The Black Sorrows, Vika & Linda have released seven studio albums, two live albums and a charttopping anthology and are one of the most admired and well-loved duos of Australian music. Vika and Linda will be supported on Saturday night at BMEC by This Way North – Best Regional Act 2018 at The Age Music Victoria Awards. This Way North has built a strong following nationally and internationally with their exhilarating live shows.
Headlining in the Festival Club is Adelaide native Carla Lippis who has recently returned after four years in London’s West End, where she worked as the principal singer at the historic Cafe de Paris and as the host of notorious nightclub The Box.
Festival Director Stephen Champion states that “with the support from Bathurst Regional Council and Create NSW, we are pleased to bring back ISoS in 2022.
“The exciting new development for 2022 is the partnerships with multiple venues, which allows us to program simultaneous concerts of different styles of music to ensure the festival would appeal to a broader audience,” says Mr Champion.
Another new development is the Regional Song Contest, which will kick off the Festival on Wednesday evening. The Contest enables more diverse input from artists across the Central West, including Bathurst local musicians: Kris Schubert, Lian Wong, Sophie Jones, Abby Smith, James van Cooper, and James van der Hal.
On Thursday, the Festival will utilise all three venues and feature Eagle & the Wolf with their awardwinning country blues, The Lachy Doley Group and his support act Andy Baylor, and finally Hot Potato Band, supported by Worlds Collide.
Finally, on Friday night, festival-goers can choose either Cuban Jazz with Caribe in Havana Return including the alluring Cuban dancing of Adrian Medina or the hard-edged rock of Marz who draws on rock royalty like the Angels and AC/DC tempered with the melodic flourishes of 60s folk.
