Crystal SymphonyCrystal Cruises vessels, Crystal Symphony, Crystal Serenity and Crystal Endeavor have been arrested according to crew members on the three ships.
Both vessels are in waters near the port in Freeport, Bahamas.
It is reported that the crew have been notified that crew wages were current as of January, but other Crystal crew members are insisting that they are still waiting for wage payments for January
A report also says that Crystal Symphony is out of food so they will have to be taking on provisions, in addition, Crystal Serenity is out of fuel, with in addition, management has said if crew want to go home early and if they have not completed their 3 months contracts they need to resign and buy their own flight ticket to go home.
The arrest appears to be related to the non-payment of $4,600,000 for fuel, with both Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity having avoided U.S. ports after a US federal district court judge in Miami made an order last week against the cruise line and its ships.
It is also unclear how the Crystal ships were seized in the Bahamas, as the Bahamas is not subject to the jurisdiction of the U.S. Marshall’s Office.
In addition, a crew member onboard Crystal Endeavor has also reported that Crystal Endeavor is also under arrest in Ushuaia, Argentina, from where she was scheduled to leave on Saturday, but is now waiting until Monday as the court is not working on weekends.
