From 29th April to 2nd May 2022, the green historical town of Zomba in Southern Malawi will be the backdrop of the 2nd edition of Zomba City Festival.
Entering its second year, the concept of the festival is to have visitors moving from one venue to the other with entertainment for all ages found at various lodges and public spaces. There will be arts & culture, sports and kids activities spread over town; from Art in the Park with a visual art exhibition and food fair in the Botanic Gardens to live music at Pakachere Lodge, yoga, theatre, poetry, hiking, and much more.
The multiple events will showcase the plethora of amazing locations in Zomba. Visitors will have a range of options on what to experience and where to go, safe in the knowledge that no venue will be overcrowded, with the majority of events taking place outdoors and introducing extra measures for the safety of attendees due to COVID-19.
“People are often overlooking Zomba as a destination, when it has so much to offer. That is one of the reasons we thought the festival was a great way to put the city on the map again,” Annelies de Bruine, one of the organisers said when creating the festival in 2021. Zomba City Festival is organised by Zomba Arts Platform (ZAP), a not for profit business supporting and enhancing the creative sector in Malawi.
Festival accommodation can be booked via Pakachere. Explore Zomba, and enjoy Malawi talent on stage and the beautiful nature that Zomba District has to offer.
