Reflections Holiday Parks yesterday launched a three-year community partnership with Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service to highlight safety around waterways and keep communities throughout Northern NSW safe.As part of the launch held at the Reflections Holiday Park at Seal Rocks, park guests and students from Bungwahl Public School were treated to a water safety and helicopter awareness training session run by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
Reflections Holiday Parks CEO Nick Baker said he was proud to support Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and the incredibly important work they do saving lives throughout Northern NSW to keep our guests and regional communities safe.
“Our coastal parks and many of our inland parks are positioned right on the surf, dams or lakes so we couldn’t be more pleased to support this dedicated team of rescue and medical professionals including pilots, crew members, doctors and paramedics who are on standby 24/7 across Northern NSW should there be an emergency,” Mr Baker said.
As part of the partnership with Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, water and coastal safety will be highlighted to guests across the group of coastal Reflections Holiday Parks through educational materials supplied across all cabins, camp kitchens and reception areas.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service CEO Richard Jones OAM said he was thrilled to be partnering with Reflections Holidays Parks and thanked them for supporting the Community’s Own Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
“In 2020/21 in over 1,400 missions, our crews attended nearly 400 accidents on our roads, in addition to urgent medical transfers for people suffering from medical conditions or injured in bushland but we also conducted over 100 water-based missions in and around waterway,” Mr Jones said.
“So, anything we can do to educate holiday makers about safety in and around the water is important and will hopefully keep families safe and together when they are visiting Reflections Holiday Parks and coastal communities.
“Reflections are helping our community fundraising as well, through the provision of holiday vouchers, prizes, accepting donations at their parks and through their holiday booking platforms.
“Funds raised through this partnership will help ensure our Service can remain supporting the community throughout Northern NSW 24-7.”
Reflections Seal Rocks Manager Katie Toney said part of the charm of Seal Rocks was its isolation, but this comes with challenges if an emergency were to arise.
“Our guests at Reflections and the wider Seal Rocks community can feel safe in the knowledge that the Westpac Helicopter is ready to respond should there be an emergency,” Ms Toney said.
“We’re incredibly well resourced for emergencies at our park office but knowing the Westpac helicopter can land nearby if the worst should happen provides another level of safety for our guests and the Seal Rocks community.
Last month Westpac Rescue Helicopter came to the aid of a bushwalker who had been bitten by a Death Adder Snake.  We are pretty remote here at Seal Rocks, so there is a definite need for this service which can transport people rapidly for ongoing care.”
