Spread the love

IKIGAI CONCEPTS is celebrating its first festive season with daily value-added special offers to “eat, drink and be merry” from 1 December 2021 at the spectacular new multi-concept Japanese dining and lifestyle destination at Nina Mall II in Tsuen Wan West.

Great value promotions on exotic new signature cocktails, fashionable Japanese sake and gin experiences, weekday happy hours and a HK$350 ‘Otsumami Drinks Package’ with tasty skewers are cheering the party season at the one-stop 12,000 sq. ft. hub for Japan’s relaxing “ikigai” philosophy of finding happiness and fulfilment in small, innocent ‘bijou’ moments of joy in everyday life.

Calming Philosophical Signature Cocktails

IKIGAI CONCEPTS’ ‘Signature Cocktails Promotion’ celebrates the launch of six new exotic elixirs, all priced at just HK$88 – headlined by the signature IKIGAI, named after the brand and its harmonious philosophy, inspired by Japanese art with two dreamy layers of cloudy ‘calpis’ and purple ‘butterfly pea’, from vodka, Kyoho grape liqueur, lemon, cranberry, calpis, butterfly pea and syrup.  Harmony lives up to its name in a white, fruit-based martini with a Japanese twist of shochu and vodka, lychee liqueur, lime and syrup.

An ‘expresso martini’ concept, Sustainable is designed to motivate those stuck in a rut with an inspiring blend of shochu, cold brew coffee and red bean liqueur, sweetened with Japanese brown sugar.  Little Joy is a ‘small joy’ enlivening cold brew tea with shochu, inspired by Japan’s after-work drinking culture.

Symbolising ‘releasing’ yourself for happiness, Releasing is a refreshing concoction of shiso leaf with sake, pineapple juice, lemon and syrup – incorporating shiso leaf, a key ingredient for IKIGAI CONCEPTS’ signature tempura that is commonly paired with sake in Japan.  Carpe Diem literally ‘seizes the day’ with a classic masculine ‘Whisky Highball’, adapted to appeal also to women with a sweetener of yuzu jam and yuzu with soda to soften the liquor flavour.

Discovering Sake Culture at SAKE Z

A great place to chill and drink, IKIGAI CONCEPTS’ conviviality centres on ‘SAKE Z’, a one-of-a-kind sake hub dispensing a multi-tasting discovery of Japan’s iconic brews introducing sake to the uninitiated – including a QR code menu to scan instant information on flavours, place of origin, rice varietal, alcohol content and recommended food pairing.

‘SAKE Z’ promotes sake culture through the concept of “matching people with wine, matching wine with people”, catering to different personalities with different tastes, and the fun technology is perfect for newcomers to find sake that suits them best from more than 30 exquisite yet affordable award-winning sake labels, showcasing both traditional and modern brewing techniques.

Among various sake hand-picked by professional sake sommeliers, the sweet and mellow Okunoto no Shiragiku Junmai Ginjo (HK$300/300ml; HK$600/720ml) is meticulously brewed at low temperature; the refreshing Yasakatsuru Egao Hyaku Yaku Junmai Daiginjo (HK$800/720ml) is smooth, elegant and subtle from Matsuri Hare rice; and the award-winning Taiko Tokubetsu Junmai (HK$290/300ml; HK$600/720ml), with a flavour of rice and cream, scooped top honours at the London Sake Challenge.

The Marvel of Japanese Gin

Japan’s exceptional ’new wave’ of gin is another highlight, standing out from more familiar gins with a unique fruitiness from the wide range of exotic citrus fruits grown in Japan.  As with Japanese cuisine, production quality is also meticulous.

As gin culture becomes more popular globally, Japan has emerged on the fashionable scene with surprising and inspiring recipes as well as flavours – defining a unique sub-culture of its own and gaining a worldwide following for its originality and typical Japanese top quality.

Showcasing what makes Japanese gin exceptional, signature labels for gin & tonic include Sakurao Original (HK$58/Glass), with hints of daidai (bitter orange), yuzu, hinoki, green tea and aka shiso; Komasa Hojicha (HK$840/Bottle), expressing hojicha, juniper berry and Japanese cypress; Roku (HK$890/Bottle), richly flavoured with sakura, yuzu, sencha & gyokuro teas, and sansho pepper; Kikka (HK$1,800/Bottle), from juniper berry and Yamato tachibana & touki; and Tsukusu (HK$1,800/Bottle), with notes of yuzu, mint, cinnamon, angelica root & Chinese cassia.
