In recognition of the service and sacrifice of those who’ve served our nation in the military, American Airlines co-hosted two special events to create a weeklong celebration of Veteran’s Day. Salute to the Troops and Seats 4 Soldiers were paused in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but resumed this year to create a one-of-a-kind experience for dozens of veterans and active service members.
“At American Airlines, honoring our military and veterans is part of our DNA. We proudly employ thousands of veterans, and it’s deeply ingrained in our culture to honor their sacrifice year-round,” said Chief Operations Officer David Seymour. “For us, Veterans Day is truly every day.”
This past weekend, American partnered with MGM Resorts, the USO, Chef Robert Irvine, Gary Sinise Foundation and others to provide 95 combat-wounded veterans and their guests with a special five-day experience in Las Vegas for the 12th annual Salute to the Troops event.
On Nov. 4, wounded, ill and injured service members from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and guests traveled to Las Vegas aboard a chartered American flight. Upon arrival, participants received a warm welcome from American team members, USO volunteers, local first responders and fellow travelers during a welcome celebration in the terminal and on the tarmac.
During their time in Las Vegas, the veterans were treated to an array of special events, the Terry Fator show, a tour of Hoover Dam, gourmet meals, VIP experiences and a concert by Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band.
“American’s commitment to recognizing our nation’s greatest heroes is not simply a promise that we honor once a year around Veterans Day,” said Military and Veterans Initiatives Manager Randy Stillinger. “Team members across the airline work year-round to recognize and honor those who have served as part of living out our purpose of caring for people on life’s journey.”
As Veterans Day weekend draws to a close, American will partner with the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 14 for the 16th annual Seats 4 Soldiers event. American is excited to expand its Seats 4 Soldiers this year to include the Dallas Cowboys. A group of 40 wounded service members from Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio will visit AT&T Stadium to see the Cowboys face the Atlanta Falcons in a fully catered VIP suite.
The guests of honor will travel on a chartered Envoy Air flight from San Antonio to Dallas-Fort Worth before receiving a special welcome and transport to the game, where they will be recognized during and after the game. Dallas Cowboys Hall of Famer Drew Pearson will join the service members for the game.
