Hobart’s iconic waterfront storytelling hotel, MACq 01, is set to be one of the most sought-after properties for those lucky enough to score themselves one of 10,000 $300 vouchers, part of Tourism Tasmania’s new Tassie Holiday Voucher program, with the online ballot open today. The exclusive offer is available for Queensland, South Australian, and West Australian holiday makers for travel this November and December, with $200 accommodation vouchers and $100 for tours and attractions up for grabs.

MACq 01’s Evolve Spirits Bar – which has just taken the top gong as Australia’s Hotel Bar of the Year and Tasmania’s Cocktail Bar of the Year – has launched the ‘Overeem Experience’, a new private tasting available to book via the voucher program. Specially curated by Evolve’s whisky connoisseurs and set in the ambient, storied bar setting, the intimate tasting will take guests on a journey to discover one of Tasmania’s original whisky pioneers – Casey Overeem and his legendary range of single malt whiskies.

All iconic properties as part of the Federal Group Tasmania portfolio will be available to book using Tassie Holiday Vouchers, including Hobart hotspots’ MACq 01 hotel and The Henry Jones Art Hotel, and the globally renowned Saffire Freycinet on the east coast of the state.

“We welcome our interstate friends with open arms and look forward to helping them build an authentic and genuine connection with our land, rich history and local tales. Across our portfolio, guests can explore the wilds of Coles Bay at the indulgent sanctuary that is Saffire Freycinet, or soak up living history at MACq 01 and The Henry Jones Art Hotel in Hobart’s iconic harbour waterfront and Hunter Street Precinct.

“The Tassie Holiday Voucher offers a once in a lifetime opportunity for travellers to experience our renowned hotels with a significant discount, properties that quite simply bring the magic of Tassie to life,” said Matt Casey, General Manager at MACq 01, The Henry Jones Art Hotel and Saffire Freycinet.

MACq 01 offers discerning travellers a luxury hotel experience that combines premium accommodation with unforgettable storytelling, at Australia’s first storytelling hotel.

For those who fancy stepping back in time, MACq 01’s Master Storyteller is on hand to take travellers through the patchwork of stories and artefacts that bring the hotel’s hallways to life – with a different Tasman character revealed behind each of its 114 doors; explore the historic Hunter Street precinct; or discover Hobart both past and present as it’s never been seen before through retro viewfinders.

Today, the Hunter Street Precinct is one of Hobart’s most exciting areas, with MACq 01 and Evolve Spirits Bar at its heart. The waterfront hub is rich with galleries and history to explore, and offers many upscale wining and dining options.

“With the restrictions we’ve endured over the past year, we know Aussies are more eager than ever to get out and explore their own backyard, and all our Federal Group Tasmania properties are primed to welcome interstate travellers to Tasmania. If you ask me, November and December are some of the best times of year to visit – the weather’s just right for outdoor activities and exploring the city alike, and with the Tassie Holiday Voucher in place there’s never been a better time to experience a true taste of Tassie, at a fraction of the price,” said Matt Casey.
