After 109 days closed, Merlin Entertainments’ iconic Darling Harbour attractions, including SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium, Madame Tussauds Sydney, and WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo will reopen their doors at 10am tomorrow.
The Keepers and Aquarists have been busy ensuring the attractions look perfect and Divers at the aquarium presented a ‘We Missed You’ sign to celebrate the reopening.
Richard Dilly, General Manager at Merlin Entertainments, said, “Congratulations to NSW for smashing the 70 percent vaccination target so that indoor entertainment venues can reopen. After being closed for 109 days, I can’t wait to open the doors to our Darling Harbour attractions tomorrow morning!
“Pig the Dugong loves the attention of guests and while the Keepers have kept him busy with enrichment and training during lockdown, we know he’s going to be one of the most excited residents to see the happy faces of our guests again. Over at WILD LIFE, we have five adorable Koala Joeys that are now exploring life outside of their mum’s pouches and will be sure to delight guests. Next door at Madame Tussauds, our fabulous wax figures have been given a fresh face and look amazing and our Fashion Zone has also had an amazing makeover.
“First entry tickets for SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium on Thursday have already sold out, so it’s great to see that guests are excited, planning ahead, and booking online. We hope to welcome you all soon to create magical memories!”
Merlin Entertainments is committed to keeping their guests, staff, and animals safe, so there are some changes, including capacity restrictions, to ensure we are operating in a COVID-Safe manner in line with the latest advice from NSW Health.
COVID-19 Safety Measures
In addition to welcoming fully vaccinated guests only in line with Government guidance, other hygiene and safety measures in place will include the requirement for guests over the age of 12 to wear a mask, all attractions being cashless operations, allocated time-slots for guests, the use of additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and clothing for staff, the provision of spatial separation markings, hygiene screens and enhanced cleaning regimes.
