Reports from the USA say that Bill Gates’ Cascade Investments, a longstanding shareholder in Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has now taken a controlling share.

The reports say that Saudi Prince al-Waleed bin Talal is selling half his stake in Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts to co-owner Gates.

This is reported to give Gates control of the company, with the deal valuing Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts at US$10 billion.

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts says that the transaction marks a “pivotal point” in the evolution of the brand, strengthening Cascade’s commitment to provide the Company with resources to accelerate growth and expand its strategic goals.
