The 11th edition of IBTM Americas 2021 will take place face-to-face on August 18 and 19 at Centro Citibanamex Mexico City and is expected to be the event that reconnects and revives business in the meetings industry in Mexico and Latin America.

Under the concept ‘Humanizing events’, IBTM Americas will provide a platform for meetings and events professionals to connect and meet with friends, partners, and colleagues.

IBTM Americas 2021 will be a special edition with around 2,000 people expected to attend over the two-day event and 350 exhibitor and co-exhibitor companies with a stand or pavilion where they will be able to offer their products and services. Exhibitors will attend primarily from North America, Mexico, Latin America, as well as destinations in Europe and Asia.

Many international destinations, including several first-time exhibitors, have been confirmed. Spain will join with its main convention bureaus. Argentina, Korea, and Japan have signed up, as well as cities from the United States including New York. Panama, Colombia and Cuba will return this year. Peru will be the guest country and will present its tourism offer to the meetings industry.

“As always, we will have the strong intention of doing business, with more than 7,000 pre-scheduled appointments booked and we expect to achieve business opportunities of nearly $1,000 million. In addition, we will contribute to Mexico City with more than 4,000 room nights and we will, as an industry, achieve the revival of our companies and demonstrate that the meetings and events industry is more alive than ever and committed to its economic reactivation,” commented David Hidalgo, Event Director.

The education program will include seven special congresses: The Romance Congress, Pharma Congress, Sustainable Events Interactive Forum, Event Design Hybrid Conference, DMOs Day, third MPI International Hispanic Forum and the first DMCs Latin American Congress. In addition, there will be around 40 conferences delivered by experts in different fields including pharma, marketing, weddings, finance, social media, tourism, events and experiences.

IBTM Americas’ opening conference, presented by Allenamenti Speakers Bureau, will be led by María Scherer, renowned writer, journalist, analyst, and lecturer. Director of Proceso magazine, collaborator, and host of El Financiero TV Maria will present a talk titled: Today’s political Mexico: understanding the present to imagine the future.

On Wednesday, Steven Paganelli, director of Destinations, Hotels and OTAs, Americas region at TripAdvisor, will talk about the “Construction of loyalty with clients: riding in the roller coaster of consumers emotions” and the following day, the first conference will be presented by Gabe Zichermann, entrepreneur, author, mentor of startups and expert in gamification: “Engaging with the audience of the future: Gamification, digital addition and A-Ha!”.

The closing lectures will also be presented by Allenamenti Speakers Bureau. On Wednesday, Luis Fernando Tena, renowned former coach of the Mexican Soccer Team, gold medal winner at the 2012 Olympic Games and professional Keynote Speaker will present his conference titled “Transcend”. On Thursday, Andrés Aguilar, lecturer, consultant, and promoter of the culture of peace and contentment will talk about “Contentment strategy”, a lecture that will become an experience of transformation and productivity analysis for organisations.

Comprehensive health and safety measures will be undertaken at IBTM Americas, including temperature measurement, hand sanitizer points, face masks while in the venue, and appropriate physical distancing.
