Spread the love

Making promising steps toward a post-pandemic life, Destination British Columbia in Canada is preparing to welcome the world, launching Open to More: a concept to encourage wider exploration and new adventures throughout the province.

Open to More inspires travellers to experience new adventures and connect with the land in a different way, whether travelling somewhere new or trying a new, bookable experience.  The concept taps into a universal need to experience new things and connect with others, whilst demonstrating how travel links people and places.

A trip planning tool supporting Open to More has been developed on-line at exploreBC.com, highlighting ideas to experience British Columbia in a new light.  Supporting the concept with the current seasons for travel, Destination British Columbia identified the top 10 quintessential BC experiences over spring, summer and autumn, that every visitor to the province should have in their lifetime:

  1. Connect With Indigenous Cultures
  2. Find Adventure in BC’s Mountains
  3. Get to Know Our Wildlife
  4. Wake Up in Nature
  5. See Metro Vancouver and Victoria in a Whole New Light
  6. Take the Road Trip of a Lifetime
  7. Find Your New Favourite Pinot in one of our 9 Wine Regions
  8. Cast a Line in BC’s Rivers, Lakes, and Coastal Waters
  9. Find Your Flavour Along an Ale Trail
  10. Golf with Ocean, Mountain, Forest, or Desert Vistas

A video series designed for IGTV, titled Love For BC, provides further inspiration for travellers to be connected with the province.  Love For BC showcases locals telling their own raw, heartfelt and unpolished stories, specifically focused on their connection with British Columbia and love for where they live.  The series highlights everything from an adventurer’s passion for the local mountains to an Indigenous entrepreneur’s deep connection to the land.

British Columbia in Canada opens to the world on 7 September 2021 for fully vaccinated travellers who meet the entry requirements, provided that Canada’s COVID-19 epidemiology remains favourable.

Also starting on 1 November, cruise ships will be permitted to re-enter the waters of Canada. Cruising is an important tourism sector for British Columbia, with Vancouver being a popular gateway to cruise to the famed Inside Passage. All travellers into British Columbia, Canada must use ArriveCAN (app or web portal) to submit their travel information.
