Spread the love

Now is the time to reconnect, rebuild, recover, and reunite. So, let’s #reuniteadventure, #reunitecommunities, #reunitecultures, #reunitebusinesses, and #reunite the world once again, expresses The World Travel and Tourism Council.

The tourism industry is very significant in terms of socio-economic development across the globe and job creation. It is one of the world’s largest industries and involves 80% of small and medium enterprise (SME) businesses. In addition, the industry plays a vital role in building global peace, enhancing diversity, and empowering women and youth.

After over a year of stillness, the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has hit the drummer for promoting international tourism. WTTC is encouraging citizens around the globe to hit the road for international travel once again. The tourist destinations are awaiting the travellers to bring on new adventures.

#Reunite the world once again

The COVID-19 pandemic made its visit longer than expected. After the battle to curb the catastrophic effects of the virus, countries are now easing their lockdown restrictions. In many countries, international travel is permitted; in some countries, air-travel bubbles are formed; and travel restrictions persist in some.

WTTC launched the campaign #reunite the world again to prompt the governments to take adequate measures to help the international travel boom again. The organisation asserts the need for joining hands to reunite the world once again.

Virginia Messina, WTTC senior vice president, said: “Travel gives us memories which last a lifetime and the most amazing experiences to share, so we are excited to launch a campaign that gets to the heart of what travel means to people.”

The WTTC believes that governments should encourage their citizens to plan for their post-pandemic trips as overall cases drop worldwide. However, the situation is still under alert conditions in few countries like India.

Significance of the campaign

The world tourism industry employs millions of people across countries. WTTC says that apart from employment generation, tourism is essential for people to connect with different communities, explore cultures and experience new lifestyles.

WTTC announced that it would encourage world tourism through the #reunite on social media platforms. People are expected to share their experiential travel posts during their post-pandemic trips using the hashtag.

The motif behind the social media campaign is to also engage people in the conversation about the impacts of tourism on mental health.  People around the world were restricted to travel because of the COVID-19 rules and regulations. However, now is the opportunity to relish the thrill of new journeys and destinations.

The international tourism industry is moving ahead to revive. Therefore, people are encouraged to travel with social distancing and other COVID-19 norms.

Thousands of families and friends got disconnected because of the pandemic. #reunite is likely to help people meet their loved ones and explore new destinations with them. In addition, post-pandemic travel will help build a positive emotional and mental state in people and help kickstart the recovery process within the tourism industry.
