Napa Valley’s premier luxury resort – is proud to announce that it has joined Beyond Green – a global portfolio of hotels, resorts, and lodges that exemplify sustainable leadership. Launched on November 17, 2020, Beyond Green was created to provide a more purposeful way to explore the world where good guests meet good hosts, presenting genuine hospitality by the people for the planet.
Deeply rooted in the importance of sustainable travel values, Carneros Resort and Spa has made significant advances in recent years, positively impacting resort operations and the overall guest experience. From thoughtfully designed guest rooms and innovative water conservation measures to environmentally conscious culinary programs, Carneros Resort and Spa is dedicated to continuing its commitment to sustainability.
As part of its sustainable measures, the resort’s individually designed guest cottages feature recyclable metal roofing, operable windows and cathedral ceilings to catch prevailing breezes, conserving energy. In addition, rainwater catchment and grey water recycling are part of the resort’s water conservation program, with native and local species used in the property’s landscaping. Guests will also find the resort’s dedication to sustainability in thoughtfully curated in-room amenities such as boxed water and compostable coffee packs, as well as rocking chairs made from recycled materials.
The resort’s dining venues feature ingredients grown in their raised bed kitchen gardens, along with fresh eggs from their own chickens, and all food waste is composted for re-use onsite. A key partner in the local area’s agricultural community, Carneros Resort and Spa supports the Napa Valley Community Foundation, which donates food and produce to areas devastated by recent wildfires, as well as supporting education and diversity initiatives in the wine world, such as their “Diversity in Wine” program, which highlights wines made from vintners and winemakers of color.
“We are honored to be furthering our sustainability commitment by joining Beyond Green,” said Managing Director Edward Costa. “To be considered for Beyond Green, a property must demonstrate leadership in three key pillars of sustainable tourism, while showing progress in more than 50 sustainability indicators. Carneros Resort and Spa has done just that, and I look forward to debuting new experiences and offers in the weeks to come.”
As a member of Beyond Green, Carneros Resort and Spa has committed to deliver on the three pillars of sustainable tourism – environmentally friendly practices that go beyond the basics; protection of natural and cultural heritage; and contribution to the social and economic wellbeing of local communities – and adhere to more than 50 sustainability indicators that align with global sustainable tourism criteria and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
