Now in its fourth season, Wandering Wild is a deeply nourishing walking and wild camping retreat connecting individuals that seek disconnection from everyday urban life.
Bringing a deeper understanding of the incredible countryside the UK has on its doorstep, weekend adventures of 3 days and two nights are carried out in small groups journeying on foot through the UK’s beautiful Dartmoor National Park. Each attendee is supplied with a backpack containing all the essentials for the weekend, packed lovingly and with much experience by retreat guide Henriette.
A key aspect of Wandering Wild is that much of the walking is done without speaking. This is a weekend designed to rekindle the senses and highlight the awe and joy that is available to us all when we dedicate time to slowing down and reconnecting with ourselves and the natural world around us. Highlights include wild swimming, spending the nights camping in stunning wild landscapes, guided meditations, drinking filtered water straight from the river, Bronze Age stone circles, wild ponies and star-gazing under the visible Milky Way.
Dartmoor is the only place in the UK outside Scotland where it’s legal to wild camp and Wandering Wild enables small groups of up to 7 people to reach into its most secret and serene spots led by trained hill and moorland guide Henriette Lofstrom. On arrival participants are supplied with a backpack containing everything needed for 3 days living under the open sky, including private comfortable tents and sleep mat, head-torch, cooking equipment and delicious food and snacks for the full 3 days. All that’s needed is a good pair of walking boots, a sleeping bag and a longing for a peaceful adventure.
Wandering Wild is not a journey with the intention to be a goal-driven hike for the challenge or exercise but more of an exploration into one’s own inner nature and relationship with outer nature. It is a precious time to wander in silence and let nature do the talking. Walking is at a slower tempo than a usual guided hiking trip, have mediations and many breaks along the way.
