Join PONANT’s next Live Online Event ‘Unchartered Antarctica onboard Le Commandant-Charcot’

“Following on from our recent super-successful Kimberley’s Big 5 online event back in September this year, I am pleased to invite you to join us for the second in the series, this time focussing on the forthcoming inaugural 2021/22 Antarctic season for our brand new eco-responsible hybrid powered luxury polar explorer Le Commandant-Charcot,”  announces Deb Corbett, General Manager Sales & Marketing Asia Pacific for PONANT.

He will be joined by our very own home-grown Head of Expeditions Asia Pacific, Mick Fogg. Craig Farrell, National Business Development Manager, will host the event during the afternoon of 19 November, with key discussion points and conversation topics aimed to bring us up to date with the construction progress, explain the unique points of difference and capabilities of this luxury PC2 (Polar Class 2) rated ice-explorer ship, and provide background to the range of unique expedition experiences Le Commandant-Charcot has on offer during this inaugural season in Antarctica.

Charcot incorporates the latest innovations in environmental protection, its hybrid propulsion system utilising liquefied natural gas (LNG) and electric engines, designed to minimise its environmental impact.

 Nicolas Dubreuil – Head of Expeditions and Sustainability

Originally a lecturer in computer science at the University of Strasbourg, for almost 30 years ‘Nico’ has been on expeditions to the most isolated parts of the planet. He spends much of the year between the Arctic and
Antarctica. On foot, sled, ski or kayak he has ‘toured’ Alaska, Spitsbergen, South Georgia, Greenland, Iceland, Siberia and Antarctica. Keen to
introduce mere mortals to these remote and stunningly beautiful regions
Nicolas has accompanied sporting expeditions, scientists, film crews,
tourists and people with disabilities, including the blind or sight restricted, amputees and seriously ill children.  

Mick Fogg – Head of Expeditions Asia Pacific
As an award-winning wildlife photographer and adventurer, Mick has spent the past 17 years leading expeditions and photographing some of the world’s most remote destinations from Antarctica to South East Asia. Mick has designed itineraries and led over 300 expeditions through Antarctica, the Sub-Antarctic Islands, New Zealand, Australia, Vanuatu, New
Caledonia, French Polynesia, The South Pacific, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and Malaysia.
