Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority (PNGTPA) enjoyed hosting a group of 15 Cairns-based agents and wholesalers/operators on Saturday for a day of incredible snorkelling on Cairns’ striking Upolu Reef.
Whilst agents are currently unable to visit Papua New Guinea to experience its world-class scuba diving and snorkelling regions, PNGTPA wanted to bring to life some of the experiences the destination has to offer in a fun and social way.
Agents from MTA, Business Leisure Travel and Travel Managers boarded the private catamaran, soaked up the sun, enjoyed a delicious lunch and discovered more about Papua New Guinea’s spectacular coastal experiences and opportunities to sell the destination, which is a short 1.5 hour flight from Cairns.
The group was hosted by Holly Marshall from PNGTPA along with Andrew Bowes from PNG Holidays, Nina Joost from Dive Adventures, Konrad Borowski from No Limit Adventures and Bettina Schmidberger from Diversion Dive.
Papua New Guinea is hopeful that a South Pacific bubble agreement will see Australians and New Zealanders arriving in Papua New Guinea before too long. Holly Marshall from PNGTPA said: “It’s been fantastic being able to connect with agents while getting out and enjoying nature. The lockdown gave me an even bigger appreciation for the outdoors, and I can’t wait to be able to take agents to Papua New Guinea to experience its amazing and almost untouched treks, diving, surf, and culture when those borders open again.”
PNGTPA has been organising small industry events throughout the year as a way to connect agents whilst travel continues to be restricted. If you are interested in joining, PNGTPA is running the following events in the coming weeks:
