The San Francisco Travel Association (SF Travel) is launching a new promotional video today to support the reopening of arts and culture institutions in San Francisco. The video is a celebration of the diversity that draws so many to San Francisco and contributes to the rich community. It is designed to inspire viewers by the abundance of arts experiences the city has to offer. It features outdoor arts experiences, as well as safe indoor attractions that reopened with strict COVID-19 protocols.

“Openness runs deep in our city, and San Francisco’s culture here shows a willingness to accept what were once considered taboo subjects, lifestyles, ways of life and creative forms. Feeling the vibrant energy of our diverse communities after months of shelter in place is truly invigorating”, said Joe D’Alessandro, president and CEO of San Francisco Travel, the official destination marketing organization for the City and County of San Francisco. “There are arts in every destination, but experimentation and that core value of openness is part of San Francisco’s DNA,” he added.

The video shows the breadth of arts offerings in San Francisco, including the Contemporary Jewish Museum, the de Young Museum, the Museum of Craft & Design, Creativity Explored, the Precita Eyes Mural Arts and Visitor Center, the African American Art & Culture Complex (AAACC), the Asian Art Museum, the GLBT History Museum, the Presidio Trust, and the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD). Playing with the concept of “openness”, it shows how many public spaces are close to large museums and smaller organizations in San Francisco, as well as sites housed in the open like the Wave Organ, the Maze at Land’s End and the Embarcadero with views of Leo Villareal’s Bay Lights.

The video can be viewed and downloaded on a special landing page that SF Travel has created on the organization’s website. Besides the inspirational video, visitors who are planning their stay will find information on cultural attractions that are open and available right now. The landing page will be continuously updated over the next couple of weeks as more institutions and attractions open to the public.

“San Francisco has been very successful so far in keeping COVID-19 infection rates under control. The city had the lowest COVID-19 death rate among all major U.S. cities throughout most of the pandemic. Our arts and culture institutions have developed elaborate protocols that allow visitors to enjoy them safely,” said Joe D’Alessandro. “San Francisco Travel invites all visitors who are planning to come in 2020 to contribute to a safe and enjoyable experience by adhering to our health and safety protocols, and by taking our Safe Travel Pledge.”
