Spread the love

Watermans Cove, an impressive amphitheatre-style boardwalk along the Barangaroo waterfront, opens to all this October ready to enjoy for summer. It adds around 11,000sqm (that’s 22 basketball courts) of public space to The Streets of Barangaroo precinct and extends the stretch of the Wulugul Walk waterfront walkway and eateries to a lengthy 350m.

Enjoy a stroll along the harbourfront before lunch or dinner at one of the 13 Wulugul Walk restaurants like Cirrus, Anason or Banksii, or head to The Butchers Block, Bund or Meat and Wine Co on Barangaroo Avenue who all now have water views for the first time. Instead, keep it casual and spend sunny summer mornings or afternoons basking in rays reflecting off water at Watermans Cove with takeaway from The Streets of Barangaroo. Treat yourself to the lotus biscoff salted caramel sundae for $15 from Devon Café with salted caramel soft serve, salted butterscotch, lotus biscoff crumble, cornflakes and caramelised banana, or grab sustainable fish and chips to go from Love.fish or the Belles chicken sandwich and a baller bucket of wings from Belles Hot Chicken.

Watermans Cove will form part of a stunning 14-kilometre continuous foreshore urban walking route from Garden Island in Woolloomooloo to the fish markets in Pyrmont, when the Barangaroo development is complete.

To mark the opening of Watermans Cove, The Streets of Barangaroo brings its best bottomless events to celebrate. Grab the gang and book yourself into one, or all, of the below. Earn your banquet or burn it all off with a walk around Watermans Cove before or after.

The western side of the city meets the harbour at Watermans Cove where people can meet, reflect, sit, walk, and have lunch or a coffee. Watermans Cove is the next step in the transformation of Barangaroo from a 22-hectare concrete container and cruise ship terminal into a vibrant waterfront precinct, which began in 2011. It is adjacent to the intersection of Barangaroo Avenue and Watermans Quay. It can be accessed from Wynyard Station via Wynyard Walk, the Barangaroo ferry stop or a short walk from King Street Wharf and Darling Harbour ferry stops. Darling Harbour is a short stroll from Watermans Cove and The Streets of Barangaroo following the harbour. Alternatively arrive in Darling Harbour’s Cockle Bay by water taxi, ferry or harbour cruise. Avoid public transport and snag a parking deal at one of the nearby garages on evenings and weekends from $10.
