Offering Aussies a guaranteed bubble that will transport lovers of a tipple to the romantic lands of France and Russia, Champagne Tsarine is landing on Australian shores for the first time this October.

Tsarine is the latest offering from the world’s second oldest Champagne house, Chanoine Frères, which was founded in Reims in 1730. With its own compelling history, the new cuvee is named in recognition of an incredible story in which the Chanoine brothers travelled to the Russian Imperial courts to try to sell their wines – and after many months, Elisabeth the First, Tsarine of Russia, tasted and bought the first bottles. Champagne Tsarine’s distinctive and stunning bottle also pays homage to this tale, representing both the buildings of Russia, and the powerful women of the time.

Now led by one of the first, and few, female winemakers in Champagne, Isabelle Tellier continues the tradition of influential women on the Champagne house, and has been at the helm of Tsarine Cellars for almost 20 years. Bringing a feminine touch to the range, Isabelle’s wines have received over 70 awards in recognition of her development of fruity, balanced and harmonious blends, of which the two Tsarine cuvees are prime examples.

Launching in Australia with two blends worth celebrating, Tsarine will be available in both the Premium NV and Rosé NV varieties, both of which have won extensive awards internationally. Only this month, both Champagnes were awarded silver medals at the 27th edition of the annual Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (The United Nations of Fine Wines), which featured 8,500 wines from 46 countries. In addition, the Premium NV has taken home awards at Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards, and International Wine Challenge and Sommelier Wine Awards, seamlessly combining Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir grapes. Or if you preferred to be tickled pink, the Tsarine Rosé NV boasts a stunning ruby pink hue, and combines the flavour and aromas of red fruits with notes of strawberry, redcurrant and blackcurrant. This style has been awarded places at Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards, International Wine Challenge and International W & S Competition and has been ranked in the Top 8 Best Rosé of the World.

So whilst a travel bubble of any kind may seem like a pipe dream right now, the bubbles of Tsarine will whisk you away to a happy place right here and now.
