Passengers take a swab of their own scent, which is then sent for a rapid-fire COVID-19 canine ‘sniff-test’ that is claimed to have 92% accuracy.Results are made available within minutes. Today also sees the resumption of cross-border travel between Singapore and Malaysia. Two schemes are involved: a reciprocal green lane for travellers on shorter visits, and a longer-term periodic commuting arrangement. It’s another sign that travel bubbles or green lanes are going to play an integral role in tourism’s (and travel retail’s) stop-start recovery. Another example is travel from Mainland China to the Macau Special Administrative Region.
