Today, Mondrian Park Avenue, managed by Journal Hotels and licensed from sbe, is pleased to announce its doors are open again as New York City continues its phased reopening. Guests and locals are welcomed back to this cultural hotspot and hub for vibrant art on Park Avenue South and invited to rediscover the distinct lifestyle experience within, which includes a new culinary pop-up by celebrity Chef Rocco DiSpirito. The hotel also reemerges with enhanced health and cleanliness protocols to ensure guest and staff safety.

Also reopened is Mondrian Terrace, the hotel’s rooftop lounge and bar, located on the fifteenth floor. Overlooking Park Avenue South, the lounge provides a comfortable indoor-outdoor sky lobby setting for guests’ all-day use as well as a lively evening hangout for cocktails and dinner. Mondrian Terrace will accommodate outdoor use initially, with indoor seating to return soon.

The hotel is also pleased to unveil a new culinary collaboration with celebrity Chef Rocco DiSpirito, who will create a temporary pop-up at Cleo, sbe’s award-winning culinary concept showcasing a modern twist on the ingredients and cultures of the Mediterranean region. Reopening today, Cleo will feature limited outdoor sidewalk seating, with a reopening of the dining room to follow soon. A selection of Chef Rocco’s dishes will also be served at Mondrian Terrace. Mondrian Park Avenue will donate a portion of profits to City Harvest in support of its causes.

“We are delighted that Rocco DiSpirito will host a pop-up at Mondrian Park Avenue, bringing his culinary magic to both Cleo and Mondrian Terrace for a limited period,” said Stephen Brandman, co-owner and CEO of Journal Hotels. “His signature cuisine style and creativity pairs perfectly with our culinary concepts and we are excited for guests to discover what he will bring to the dining experience.”

“Stephen Brandman and I always planned to reunite for a project and since he operates the Mondrian, we decided to use this opportunity to help rebuild New York City,” said Rocco DiSpirito. “We want to create a place for New Yorkers to come to experience the type of cuisine and hospitality they are used to and support the organizations that do important work, like City Harvest, New York City’s largest food rescue organization.”

Guests are also welcomed to book overnight stays in Mondrian Park Avenue’s stylish and contemporary guestrooms and suites, which are equipped with new cleanliness protocols aligned with the latest city and state guidelines. Among new measures being undertaken across the property are the use of UV lights to sanitize luggage and rooms, and providing proper PPE equipment, including masks, to guests and staff. The hotel’s public spaces have also been reorganized to follow pertinent social distancing rules.

“As our beloved city reemerges, we are thrilled to once again welcome residents and guests through our doors,” said Mondrian Park Avenue General Manager Charlie Katz. “We encourage guests to rediscover the lifestyle experience within, in a safe and comfortable environment for all.”
