Planning an event in a complex COVID-19 landscape is now easier thanks to the COVID-Safe Guidelines developed by global meetings and event management agency cievents.

The guidelines, which is one of the most comprehensive developed for the meetings and events industry, outline resources as well as protocols to increase the health and safety precautions throughout the event planning and the delegate journey.

cievent’s COVID-Safe Guidelines were launched last week at Meetings & Events Australia’s EVOLVE: Renovated 2020, where cievents Director of Operations Tai Lennon lead the discussion on the new risks that need to be taken into consideration for event management.

“As we continue to face uncertainty, there has never been a more important time for risk mitigation,” said Tai.

“Prevention and response planning, operational assurance and business continuity, crisis management and communication will all need to be examined. At cievents we believe the most important consideration is commercial risk and the understanding that this should be shared by all event stakeholders.”

As part of developing the COVID-Safe Guidelines, cievents has been working closely with suppliers to ensure pandemic cancellation and attrition clauses are included in all contracts, and all suppliers must have current COVID-19 safety procedures in place. Hotels and venues must also have relevant COVID-Safe operating principles and processes in place.

Following the Australian Government Department of Health regulations, these processes include strict adherence to physical distancing measures, increased cleaning and hygiene practices, food service safety and additional delegate communications. These regulations, as well as relevant Safe Work Australia principles, are also included to provide one consolidated resource for event managers to safeguard the wellbeing of all event attendees, staff and suppliers.

To support these guidelines cievents has created a simple pre, during, and post-event checklist that is mandatory for all events produced by cievents.
