A-ROSA River Cruises successfully recommenced sailings in French waters on 11th of July 2020. After a highly anticipated and smooth restart of its operations on the Portuguese Douro river, the Rhine and Danube in June, France was the last country for A-ROSA to sail again.
The first departure took guests from Lyon to Arles, the gateway to the Camargue; a protected National Park with exceptionally rich and varied flora and fauna and famous for its wild white horses and pink flamingos.

Enjoying the Mediterranean summer, many of A-ROSA’s guests took up the manifold shore excursion options like a Jeep Tour through the Camargue and trip to the stunning Ardèche Gorges and lavender fields. Very popular also, A-ROSA’s Avignon walking tour that visited the city’s lyrically acclaimed bridge and Popes’ Palace. This magnificent structure is one of the largest and most important Gothic buildings in Europe and was the papal residence during the 14th century.

A-ROSA’s health and hygiene concept, already effectively rolled out on the line’s other operational vessels, applies to its French sailings also. Measures include, but are not limited to, strict social distancing of 1.5 metres, pre-screening of passengers and temperature checks.

“Guests who sailed with us on our first cruises since the easing of the COVID-19 lockdown complimented us for our professional, yet non-intrusive implementation of our health and hygiene concept,” explains Jörg Eichler, CEO, A-ROSA River Cruises. “We are delighted that we can now offer French sailings again, where guests can enjoy their well-deserved summer holidays in a relaxing environment,” he concludes.
