Travel + Leisure has today announced their annual World’s Best Awards, naming Perth’s COMO The Treasury as the No. 1 Best City Hotel in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

“We are honored to have been selected as the best city hotel in the region,” said Mr. Jesse Tibert, Hotel Manager, COMO The Treasury. “We pride ourselves in offering unparalleled luxury service and a bespoke cultural experience from the moment our guests arrive. It is with the help of our attentive staff that COMO The Treasury rises to the top.”

The luxury hotel, designed by renowned architect Kerry Hill, pairs Hill’s contemporary design with COMO’s familiar emphasis on understated luxury. Large windows frame handcrafted bespoke European furniture and flood guest accommodations with natural light, while cantilevered balconies designed in flamboyant neo-Renaissance style ensure the city’s most impressive landmarks are on display. En-suite bathrooms feature German Kaldewei Duo free-standing bathtubs, American oak cabinetry, Travertine stone tiles and heated marble floors.

COMO The Treasury is the centre piece of Perth’s iconic State Buildings that were returned to their 19th-century origins following the completion of a major restoration project in 2015. The former government buildings were reimagined into a vibrant hub of retail and dining and today feature some of Perth’s most coveted venues including the newly relaunched Wine Merchant and the hotel’s own Wildflower and Post.

Wildflower, helmed by Head Chef Matthew Sartori who turns to local farmers and foragers to bring his menus to life, serves contemporary dishes revolving around the indigenous ethos of six seasons. Post, COMO The Treasury’s inner-city osteria and bar which reopened this week following an extensive refurbishment, offers a contemporary take on Italian classics.

COMO’s renowned wellness philosophy comes to life at COMO Shambhala Urban Escape which provides a nurturing, personalised focus on wellbeing for both hotel and external guests. A full selection of massages is available as well as a number of purifying body detoxifications in the hotel’s four treatment rooms. Further to this wellness sanctuary is a 20m heated lap pool with a state-of-the-art gym above the pool.

Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards are compiled of surveys where readers are invited to participate in ranking for their favorite airlines, airports, car-rental agencies, cities, cruise lines, destination spas, hotels, hotel brands, islands, tour operators, and safari outfitters. Each rating is based on a number of characteristics that respondents could choose from excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor.
