Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has launched a new video Q&A series for its travel agent members, addressing some of the most commonly asked questions about the cruise industry in Australia and New Zealand.

The series, titled “Ask Joel,” sees CLIA Managing Director Australasia Joel Katz answering the sometimes tricky questions being asked of the industry, in an effort to educate the community on the steps being taken by the association in response to COVID-19 and the work being done by cruise lines behind the scenes.

In the first episode released on Facebook this week, Joel covers a range of topics including the efforts taken to correct the perception of cruising in the media, CLIA’s role as a peak body, and the processes and actions required to develop new ‘beyond-COVID’ industry protocols.

The series has been developed in response to a recent member survey, which found one in five cruise and industry stakeholders wants visibility of how others in the industry are adapting to the changing requirements.

“As we work to rebuild our industry and recover from COVID-19, I’ll be sharing some of our members’ most frequently asked questions,” Mr Katz says in episode one.

“I encourage anyone in the wider cruise community to participate by sending in any questions you have to askjoel@cruising.org, and we’ll do our best to address as many as we can in this series.”
