Swiss International Airlines has operated its first flight out of Hongkong  yesterday evening (3 June). It is the first Lufthansa Group Airline passenger flight since the end of March. Flight LX139 has departed at 11:45pm from Hongkong and is scheduled to arrive at Zurich at 6:10am on 4 June.

SWISS will be followed by Lufthansa who announced today that it intends to resume flights between Hongkong and Frankfurt at the beginning of July.

Overall, SWISS has scheduled two weekly flights in June, departing from Hongkong on Wednesday and Sunday; flights from Zurich (LX138) will depart Tuesday and Saturday at 1:10pm and arrive in Hongkong at 7am the next day. SWISS is operating its flagship, a Boeing 777-300 on all flights to and from Hongkong. The cabin configuration offers customers first, business and economy class.

„We are more than happy being able to connect Hongkong with Europe again,“ says Veli Polat, Head of Lufthansa Group Sales for mainland China and Hongkong. „It is the first step of what hopefully will be a return to normalcy for SWISS, our Lufthansa Group Airlines and aviation in general. In doing this we will continue to be committed to uphold the highest hygienic and safety standards for the health and the well-being of our customers.“

Rolf Frei, Switzerland’s Consul General in Hongkong and Macao, emphasises it is an important signal  that SWISS is resuming operations to and from Hongkong: „We are grateful to the authorities for making these flights possible – Hongkong is among the top trading partners of Switzerland,“ said Mr Frei. „Connecting both economies and its people again without compromising any health concerns is something we’ve all been looking forward to.“

SWISS, like every Lufthansa Group Airline, upholds the highest safety and hygienic standards for the health and well-being of their customers. „SWISS has elevated its standards of cleanliness by implementing a number of additional safety and hygienic measures, allowing you to travel free of worries during these extraordinary times“, said Veli Polat. „These measures along with others, were developed in close consultation with leading experts, including the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health as well as SWISS and Lufthansa Group medical services.“ All protective measures are given at www. swiss.com.

The flights to and from Hongkong are subject to entry regulations from both, Switzerland and Hongkong. Customers are asked to check prior to their flight if they meet all requirements set by the authorities.
