In light of the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Penang, Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) would like to advise all business events delegates who are currently in Penang or traveling to Penang in this coming week to exercise caution.

Kindly practice the following guidelines from the Ministry of Health Malaysia:

  1. Cover your mouth and nose using tissue whenever you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it. Wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer regularly;
  2. Always follow cough etiquette;
  3. Use face mask whenever being in public or close contact with people if you are feeling unwell;
  4. Always maintain good personal hygiene and cleanliness. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.

Should you be experiencing any of the COVID-19 symptoms such as fever above 38 degree Celsius, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention at the nearest public hospital to you.

The hospitals identified as of date for screening are Penang Hospital, Kepala Batas Hospital, Seberang Jaya Hospital and Bukit Mertajam Hospital with the Penang Hospital being the sole confirmed isolation facility in the state.

Should you begin to feel unwell with mild symptoms such as headache and slight runny nose, we strongly advise you to get tested and stay at home or your hotel until you recover.

For more information, you may also contact the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) in Komtar at 04-261 2533 or visit the centre on the 37th floor from 8am to 10pm.
