Latin America and Polar Travel Specialists, Chimu Adventures, can confirm that their March 2021 Antarctica expedition cruise carrying Paul Kelly as a very special guest will be raising funds for Groundswell Giving  and WWF.

This announcement coincides with the release of Kelly’s latest single, Sleep, Australia, Sleep which has been cited as a compelling response to the Australia’s inaction on environmental destruction and climate change. Kelly has said that the song is both a ‘lament in the form of a lullaby’ and ‘a critique of the widespread attitude among humans that we are the most important life form on the planet.’

The iconic Australian singer-songwriter and environmentalist will be travelling with Chimu on their Songs in the South with Paul Kelly voyage departing on 11th March 2021. Sailing aboard the Ocean Endeavour , this extensive 21 day voyage will transport Kelly and less than 200 other passengers to Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands.

Kelly will perform three times during the expedition against a backdrop of some of the world’s most ethereal scenery. The final frontier of Antarctica is a place where the planet’s fragility can be seen in its purest form; where unique wildlife must thrive and where those who experience it return home with their own stories and future motivations. Chimu are aware of Antarctica’s powerful effect on travellers and have seen how they return ambassadors for its protection so are excited to see how Kelly interprets this experience.

As with all Chimu Exclusive Cruises, this voyage will be donating a percentage of the berth sales to a chosen cause. In light of Kelly’s environmental stance and his latest musical release, Songs in the South with Paul Kelly will be raising funds for Groundswell Giving  and WWF. Following this season’s devastating bushfires in Australia, WWF rely on donations to be able to provide emergency funds to care for injured koalas and help restore homes for kolas and other wildlife by planting the first 10 000 trees urgently needed in koala habitats. Groundswell Giving’s mission is to educate and empower people to take meaningful climate action in their own lives and they pool finds to fuel strategic, high-impact climate action and advocacy in Australia.

Chimu Adventure’s Co-founder, Chad Carey, elaborates on this decision: “Paul Kelly shares many of Chimu’s views about the environment and climate change and his latest single shines an important light on these issues. Being able to support WWF and The Groundswell Project via this expedition is something we are delighted to be able to do.”

Songs in the South with Paul Kelly departs on 11th March 2021. Visiting Antarctica, the Falklands Islands and South Georgia with this iconic figure and less than 200 other passengers promises to be an unmissable experience. Listen to Kelly’s songs, including perhaps Sleep, Australia, Sleep, played live against a landscape of mountains and glaciers.

This small ship expedition aboard the Ocean Endeavour is expected to fill up quickly so early booking is strongly advised. The vast majority of Chimu’s Destination Specialists have travelled to Antarctica personally so can talk potential guests through their options. Additional services such as international and domestic flights can also be arranged. Contact Chimu here to find out more.
