TPC Kuala Lumpur has teed-off 2020 with a bang, claiming numerous notable accolades.

Underlining its status as one of the region’s premier golfing venues, the East Course and West Course at TPC Kuala Lumpur have secured the number one and number two spots in Golf Digest International’s Best Courses in Malaysia poll.

TPC Kuala Lumpur has also improved its standing in the Top 100 Platinum Golf and Country Clubs of the World, rising from 88th to 82nd place.

“Securing the top two positions in Golf Digest International’s Best Courses in Malaysia and Top 100 Platinum Golf and Country Club are incredible achievements for the club. Being a top club means consistently providing the best in facilities and services to our members and guests,” said Steven Thielke, Chief Executive Officer of TPC Kuala Lumpur, a Golf Course Facility Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.

Recent enhancements at TPC Kuala Lumpur include renovation of the West Course, practice area expansion, upgrade of buggies and resurfacing of the driving range. Thielke said further developments are in the planning phases.

Home to the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia tournament from 2010 to 2017, the East Course has been graced by many LPGA Tour stars, including Jessica Korda, Lexi Thompson, Cristie Kerr, Feng Shanshan and Park In-bee.

The East Couse, affectionately known as the ‘Grand Old Lady’, features impeccable fairways and greens with attractive landscaping, providing a colourful habitat to numerous forms of flora and fauna. Playing to a par of 71 and measuring 5,713 metres, the East Course opened in 1991. It underwent a renovation in 2008 and re-opened in 2010.

The West Course underwent renovations in 2007 and 2017. A par-72 that stretches to 6,405 metres, the course has, since 2006, staged an array of international tournaments, highlighted by the Maybank Malaysian Open and the CIMB Classic.

Owned by Sime Darby Property, TPC Kuala Lumpur has been a market leader in Malaysia. Since becoming part of the TPC Network, and staging the PGA Tour’s first event in Southeast Asia (CIMB Classic), TPC Kuala Lumpur’s profile has soared.

In 2019, the club became Malaysia’s first and only Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for Golf, having met stringent environmental management standards. The Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for Golf is an award-winning educational and international certification programme endorsed by the United States Golf Association that helps golf courses to protect and preserve the environment.
