Hilton Brisbane’s best and brightest have battled it out at the annual Hilton Australasia Food and Beverage (F&B) Masters in Brisbane, with one of the hotel’s three finalists taking away a top accolade.

From Tuesday 28 January to Thursday 30 January, the showcase saw 30 of Hilton’s most outstanding talent descend on the Brisbane CBD hotel to compete in bar, barista and culinary disciplines.

Hailing from Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, the finalists delivered food and beverage masterpieces that were judged by a panel of experts from within Hilton and beyond, including Vittoria Coffee National Channel Manager, Mark Haj and Executive Chefs, David Vandenabeele, Sam Moore and Philip Nock.

Hilton Brisbane Team Member, Sophie Dewhurst took away the Barista Cup – cementing the hotel’s reputation as a leader in fostering exceptional talent and service across the food and beverage industry.

An all-rounder and Hilton Brisbane F&B Attendant, Sophie Dewhurst brewed off in speed and practical tests in the Barista Cup. Her signature coffee, Rosella Delight was a delicious blend of espresso, dark chocolate, Turkish delight and rose-inspired scents, impressing the judges and securing her the top spot.

Chris Partridge, area general manager, South East Queensland, said, “The Australasian F&B Masters puts a spotlight on the hard work and passion of the incredible talent across Hilton.”

“The event reflects the ongoing and meaningful career opportunities Hilton provides Team Members, to nurture their professional growth and development. We have extraordinary talent across our F&B departments, so we want to inspire them to develop their skills and learn from other leaders in their disciplines”, said Mr Partridge.

On top of the prestigious honour, the three winners of the Bar, Barista and Culinary Cups were awarded exclusive training and development experiences customised for each craft.

The Food and Beverage Masters concept first launched in Europe in 2011 and expanded to the Middle East and Africa region in 2012. After much success, the competition later launched across the Asia Pacific region in 2015.
