It was Lights, Music, Party at Clarke Quay’s 2020 Countdown extravaganza held at the iconic Fountain Square with over 30,000 party-goers ringing in the new year in high spirits.
In true Clarke Quay fashion, the main stage area was lit with a dazzling show of LED lights, optical displays and animations that not only immersed revellers in a world of illumination but also had many seeing double. Aided by ChromaDepth 3D glasses that were handed out freely, tourists and locals alike gravitated to the Fountain Square and soaked up the light show and festive atmosphere.
The music entertainment was nothing short of awe-inspiring with high-energy, all-Singaporean rock outfit Shirlyn + The UnXpected belting out popular tunes to an effervescent crowd who sang along with great enthusiasm.
The clocks were ticking 15 minutes before midnight. Show hosts Gerald Koh and Kimberly Wang from Mediacorp’s 987FM did a brilliant job of stirring the crowd and preparing them for the inevitable stroke of midnight, confetti shower and singing of Auld Lang Syne.

Another year ends, a new one begins. The merry making continued way into the early hours all around Clarke Quay as bars and clubs such as Zouk, Yang Club, Fclub x Attica, Get Juiced, Le Noir, Crazy Elephant and Live at the Crossroads ramped up their New Year’s entertainment to accommodate the thousands of party goers looking to continue their celebrations.
