Silversea Cruises is celebrating one of its biggest year to date with an increasing number of guests from Australia and New Zealand choosing to sail with the ultra-luxury cruise line in 2019. In what was its 25th anniversary year, Silversea was recognised with four major award wins in Australia, welcomed its newest flagship vessel to the region for the first time, and continued to reinforce its commitment to the trade.

During a momentous 2019, Silversea Cruises took home the awards for: “Best for Luxury” in Cruise Critic Australia’s Editor’s Choice awards; “Best Luxury Ocean Cruise Line” in Luxury Travel Magazine’s Gold Choice Awards; number one for “Expedition Ships (luxury)” in Signature Magazine’s Best of the Best Luxury Cruise Awards; and “Best Luxury Cruise Line” in Cruise Passenger Magazine’s Reader’s Choice Awards.

Adam Armstrong, Managing Director Australia and New Zealand, Silversea Cruises said,

“We are honoured to receive so many prestigious awards in 2019, reaffirming Silversea as the number one choice for luxury cruisers.  We are committed to the Australian and New Zealand markets and are thrilled to see an increasing number of cruisers from both countries choosing to sail with us. We see out 2019 the same way we welcomed it, by celebrating the arrival of Silver Muse – this time for her longest season to date with maiden ports of call in the Pacific Islands, Hobart, Bluff, Timaru and Wellington – and returning again next season for a complete circumnavigation of Australia.”

The trade continues to be a defining factor for Silversea’s growth, and this year support for its partners was ever more apparent. A number of new appointments were made within Silversea’s sales team to provide further support for agents, and an increased number of trade events were held across Australia and New Zealand throughout the year.

“The trade is our most valued distribution channel.  This year we were pleased to expand our annual agent roadshow to more cities, inaugurated our Travel Agent Advisory Board, hosted a record number of consultants on famils and walkarounds, and launched a new travel agent appreciation program, Campione di Silversea. Through events and initiatives such as these, we ensure that we are taking every opportunity to listen to and engage with our travel agent partners to ensure on-going mutual success.”

From just one ship in 1994, Silversea’s guests today enjoy a fleet of nine ultra-luxury, intimate vessels – with five new ships on order. As part of Project Invictus, the largest investment in the company’s history, the new builds will significantly raise the bar in the ultra-luxury segment whilst extensive refurbishments to the existing fleet, inspired by the design of Silversea’s flagship Silver Muse, will further enhance the cruising experience for guests.

Silver Origin and Silver Moon will be the first of the new ships to be welcomed to the fleet, scheduled for July and August next year, respectively. Silversea’s new culinary program, S.A.L.T. will launch on board Silver Moon in August and is set to revolutionise culinary travel by enabling travellers to use food to dive deep into the world’s richest cultures and to truly understand the soul of a destination.
