Jetstar Asia is to begin sharing codes with both Air France and KLM on 12 routes in Southeast Asia, while Jetstar Airways has confirmed it plans to share codes with KLM, building on Qantas’ established partnership.

The codeshare partnerships mean customers from Air France and KLM can now connect in Denpasar and Singapore, providing them more with options to choose from when travelling to and from Europe.

The arrangements come with certain provisos and dates of comencement:

  • KLM’s KL code for travel on Jetstar Asia is on sale now for all routes except Cambodia (PNH, REP) which are subject to pending government and regulatory approval.
  • Jetstar Asia (3K) and Air France (AF) plan to launch a codeshare partnership for selected routes from 7 January 2020 (subject to government and regulatory approval).
  • Jetstar Airways (JQ) and KLM (KL) to launch a codeshare partnership for selected routes from 15 February 2020 (subject to government and regulatory approval).

A Jetstar statement yesterday said customers would “benefit from an expanded network of travel options as well as a seamless travel experience with single ticket itineraries and through-checked baggage”.

Meals and refreshments are also included for Air France and KLM customers booked on a single itinerary when travelling on a Jetstar Airways or Jetstar Asia flight.

Air France and KLM customers will now have access to a wider range of destinations in Southeast Asia by connecting onto Jetstar Asia flights in Singapore, as Air France  and KLM place their KL/AF codes on 12 destinations operated by Jetstar Asia.

Destinations include; Da Nang (Vietnam), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), Denpasar (Indonesia), Medan (Indonesia), Surabaya (Indonesia), Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Siem Reap (Cambodia), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Penang (Malaysia), Phuket (Thailand), Yangon (Myanmar), and Darwin (Australia).

KLM is also planning to implement its KL code onto selected Jetstar Airways routes, providing KLM customers with itineraries beyond Denpasar to four destinations in Australia operated by Jetstar Airways: Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney.

Jetstar Asia chief executive, Bara Pasupathi, said he was very pleased to extend Qantas’ already well-established partnership and welcome Air France and KLM to the Jetstar family.

“It is always great to find new opportunities to be able to offer our incredible network to more customers who are looking to explore Southeast Asia and Australia,” Pasupathi said.

“Changi’s world-class facilitates make Singapore the leading choice for customers connecting between Europe and Southeast Asia and Australia”.
