Melburnians can live the life of a tourist this summer on the Mornington Peninsula. Arthurs Seat Eagle has launched bespoke picnic packages to complement its soaring sightseeing experience.

For those who like the idea of a picnic – but without any of the responsibility – the basket, food, beverages and blanket are all taken care of, making it ideal for a day trip.

Soar from the Dromana base station to the summit and take in the best views of the Mornington Peninsula region and across Port Phillip Bay to the city skyline. On board the Eagle’s aerial gondolas, some of the best photo opportunities can be found in brilliant shades of blue with the backdrop of bushland.

After popping up to the top, pre-ordered picnic baskets will await travellers at the Summit Café with the guests’ selection inside, including wraps, hot pastries, snacks, and sweet treats such as vegan brownies and cheesecake.

A multitude of walking paths mean the more romantic of picnickers can find a secluded area within Arthurs Seat State Park. While at nearby Seawinds Gardens, indigenous and exotic formal gardens form an idyllic setting; the William Ricketts sculpture collection throughout features stunning forms that almost appear magically carved by nature.

Open seven days per week, Arthurs Seat Eagle is all inclusive and caters to the disabled, elderly and toddlers; it is wheelchair and pram friendly, and each gondola can accommodate up to eight people.

Picnic baskets and blankets are ‘rental’ items and must be returned. Any leftover food items and packaging can be left in the basket and returned. Food and drinks cannot be consumed on board the gondolas. Baskets are priced at $100 per couple, which includes a return gondola flight for two adults, and must be booked in advance online.
